How Long Does a Glass Wall Installation Actually Take?
This is one of the first questions almost every client asks, and the honest answer has two separate parts that often get conflated: how long it takes to get the materials, and how long it takes to actually install them once they arrive.
Once you've finalized a system, glass, finish, and hardware, manufacturers typically need three to five weeks to produce and ship the materials. This varies by manufacturer, current demand, and how custom your specification is. Standard finishes in common configurations tend to ship faster than heavily customized orders.
Once materials arrive, a single office or standard conference room installation typically takes one to two days. Larger, multi-room projects scale up from there depending on the number of rooms and door configurations involved, but even sizable buildouts are usually measured in days, not weeks, which is one of the genuine advantages glass has over traditional construction.
Custom finishes, non-standard glass thicknesses, and acoustic upgrades can add to material lead time. On the installation side, building access restrictions, like limited freight elevator windows in a high-rise, or scheduling installation around an occupied office, can stretch the on-site portion even if the actual labor involved doesn't change.
If you have a hard deadline, work backward from it with both numbers in mind, and build in buffer for the material lead time specifically, since that's the part most outside anyone's direct control once the order is placed.
