The frosted band is doing most of the work

The detail that solves this best isn't full frosted glass or full clear glass, it's a frosted band positioned at conversation height, roughly where a seated or standing person's head and shoulders fall. Clear glass above and below that band keeps light moving through the space and maintains the open feel patients respond well to, while the frosted section blocks the casual line of sight that makes a reception desk feel exposed.

Reception areas vs. consult rooms need different treatment

Reception and check-in benefit most from the frosted band approach, since the goal there is visual discretion more than full acoustic isolation. Consult rooms, where a provider discusses diagnosis or treatment, need real sound control, not just visual privacy. Treating both the same way either over-spends on reception or under-delivers on consult room privacy.

For consult rooms, acoustic glass with proper sealing matters more than the visual treatment, since the conversation itself needs to stay unheard. For general admin and back-office areas, standard glass without either upgrade is usually sufficient.
