A conference room is one of the only rooms in an office that needs to do two contradictory things at once: feel open and visible from the rest of the floor, and stay completely private once a meeting starts. Drywall solves the privacy half and fails the visibility half. Glass, when it's the right type of glass, solves both.
The detail that actually matters here is acoustic performance, not aesthetics. Most facilities managers we talk to assume any glass wall will handle a conference room fine, then find out during the first confidential meeting that a single pane of standard glass doesn't block much sound at all.
For a standard conference room handling everyday meetings, an acoustic glass wall with double glazed or laminated panels gets you real sound privacy without losing the visual openness. If the room needs to flex between an open collaborative space and a closed meeting room throughout the day, we'll usually pair that acoustic glass with a sliding door system instead of a fixed swing door. For rooms where budget is tighter and conversations are less sensitive, frameless or demountable glass without the acoustic upgrade is a reasonable call, we'll tell you honestly if that's the better fit for your situation.
